Taiga Biological Research and Logistics was founded out of a passion for biological science and Canada’s wild spaces.

Taiga (Tay-ga), or тайга in Russian, is a synonym for what is known as the Boreal Forest in North America, the largest biome on earth. I first discovered this region through David Attenborough’s accent, who uses the old world terminology.

My best pal and field technician for 14 years who I named Taiga was there for every sedge identification, rattlesnake measurement, beach seine, community outreach, water sample, wrong turn, boat ride, fish tagging, intuitive meander, wetland classification, vegetation plot, whip-poor-will survey and bear encounter that formed the foundation of Taiga Biological Research and Logistics.
